Dear tourist, you are in front of the historic span of the railway bridge on the San River. It is a part of the original construction dating from 1890 to 1899. The bridge on the San River was the largest engineering building on the section of the First Hungarian-Galician Railway running from Krościenko through Zagórz to Łupków, completed in 1872. Due to their strategic nature, the main railway line mentioned here, as well as the Zagórz bridge, were destroyed many times during both world wars. Apart from the exposed span, two original (outermost) brick pillars made of ashlars have survived to this day. It is interesting to note that as a result of the renovation of the railway bridge completed in 2022, the original 19th century construction was replaced with spans from the bridge over the Vistula River, obtained during the modernisation of the Cracow cross-city line between the Kraków Główny and Kraków Płaszów stations.
