As legend has it, already in the times of Casimir the Great, there was a small wooden Orthodox church on a hill in Wielopole, and the first mention of this temple in documents appeared in 1482. The next records come from 1761. In 1865, the old wooden church was demolished, but it is not known whether it was the church from the 15th century or the following one. The new brick church, which you can admire, was built thanks to donations from the locals of both the Eastern and Western rites. The faithful from Wielopole living in New York also made a significant financial contribution to the construction. The outbreak of World War II and its consequences did not allow the temple to be completed. After 1947, the church was not used. In the 1960s, it was taken up by a few Orthodox believers. In 1991, the temple was handed over to Greek Catholics and renovated. Currently, the church is used by the Greek Catholic faithful. The temple is made of brick, built on a Greek cross plan, topped with a dome in the central part.
