Dear Guest, you are standing in front of the 18th century parish church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Zagórz, built using the walls of a Gothic chapel. This church was awarded the rank of a Sanctuary of the Mother of New Life in 2007. The parish in Zagórz was established in 1750 as a foundation of Piotr Konstanty Stadnicki and his wife Teresa. We invite you inside. You will certainly notice the Baroque altar, which contains a famous painting depicting the scene of the Annunciation, probably from the 16th century. At the top there is a beautiful sculpture showing the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The side altars come from the beginning of the 20th century and were made after the fire of the church in Zagórz in 1911. The figures come though from earlier, eighteenth-century altars. The pulpit with a polygonal body topped with a gloria was built before 1700 and is one of the oldest elements of the temple equipment. The baroque baptismal font is almost as old as the pulpit. Now look at the side walls of the church. The Stations of the Cross located there date back to the end of the 18th century, and were originally located in the Discalced Carmelites’ church in Zagórz. It is also worth paying attention to eighteenth-century paintings, among others the image of Our Lady of Snow, the Ecstasy of Saint Teresa, Saint Joseph with Baby Jesus, Saint Anthony of Padua and the Holy Family. Some of the paintings come from the previously mentioned monastery. The stained glass windows were donated by the Gubrynowicz family and parishioners – most of them were created in Żeleński's factory in Cracow. The organ dates back to the 1920s. On the walls of the church you can also see tombstones and commemorative plaques, which are testimony to the history and memory of generations. The stairs to the choir and the stoup were made at the end of the 19th century by railway craftsmen. When you leave the church, you will see the bell tower standing next to the it, from the same period as the temple, raised in 1983. Currently, there are four bells hanging in it - Visitation, Mary, Joseph and the oldest: Caspar (probably from 1647), which rings every day at noon, calling for the Angelus.
